Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 July 2026
In short. This site asks you for nothing and keeps nothing about you. There are no accounts, no forms, no user database and no cookies at all. The only information leaving your browser is what is technically needed to serve the page and, if you choose to use the AI assistant, the text you type yourself.
Data controller
Michele Canini, reachable at michelecanini.dev@gmail.com. For any question about this policy or to exercise your rights, write to that address.
What is processed, and why
1. Server logs
This site is hosted on Vercel. Like any hosting service, Vercel records incoming requests: IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure. Legal basis: legitimate interest. Logs are kept by Vercel for a limited period according to the service settings.
2. Visit statistics
I use Vercel Web Analytics to understand whether and from where visitors arrive. The service is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device, does not keep your IP address and does not track you across other sites. Visitors are identified by a value derived from the request, which is discarded after 24 hours.
The data collected is: page viewed, referring site, city level location, operating system, browser and device type. It is aggregated and cannot be traced back to you. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
3. AI assistant
The site includes a conversational assistant. When you send a message, the text is transmitted to this site's server and from there to the artificial intelligence API operated by Google LLC, which generates the answer.
- Purpose: answering questions about the owner's professional background.
- Legal basis: performing the service you request by writing in the chat.
- What I do not do: conversations are not stored. Messages are not saved on any system of this site and disappear when you reload the page. Conversation history is not transmitted either: every message travels on its own.
- Google's role: it processes messages as a data processor in order to generate the reply and does not use them to train or improve its own models. It keeps logs for a limited period, solely to prevent abuse.
- A practical note: replies are generated automatically and may contain inaccuracies. They are not a commitment of any kind. Please do not enter personal or confidential details in the chat: for anything serious, email me instead.
4. Abuse prevention
To prevent automated use of the assistant, the number of messages that can be sent from the same IP address within 24 hours is limited. The counter stays in the server memory for at most 24 hours and is never written to any storage. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
Who receives the data
- Vercel Inc. (United States), which hosts the site, runs the chat function and provides visit statistics.
- Google LLC (United States), which processes the AI assistant messages.
Nobody else. Data is never sold, shared or used for advertising.
Transfers outside the European Union
Both providers are based in the United States. The transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission.
What is stored in your browser
No cookies. A few local storage entries are used, which stay on your device and are never transmitted: your light or dark theme preference, the language you picked and the chat message counter. Details on the dedicated page.
Links to other sites
The site links to GitHub, LinkedIn, Google Play and to the sites of the projects shown. They open only if you click them, and from that point the destination site's own policy applies.
Your rights
You can ask to access your data, correct or delete it, restrict or object to the processing, and receive it in a portable format. Given the nature of the processing described above, in most cases I cannot link a data point to a person, so I may need to ask you for additional details in order to act on a request.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
AI transparency
This site uses artificial intelligence in two places, and it declares both.
The chat assistant. Replies are generated by an artificial intelligence model, not written by a person. They may contain inaccuracies and are not a commitment of any kind. How the data travels and the provider's role are described in the «AI assistant» section above.
The profile photograph. It is a real photo of Michele Canini, modified with artificial intelligence tools: the setting around the subject is reconstructed and does not depict an existing place.
The other images on the site are screenshots of the projects presented.
Changes
If the site changes, this page changes with it: it is handwritten and versioned together with the code, not generated by an external service. The date at the top shows the last update.
